Welcome fellow Independent Teachers.
My name is Paige Brown and it is my honor to serve as the Independent Teacher Liaison for the Texoma Regional NATS. I began teaching in 1991 for the school district in Amarillo, TX. Although I enjoyed my profession as a music educator in the public schools, I wanted to spend more time with individual students and their unique needs. To that end, I opened my Independent voice studio in 1994 where I continue to specialize in high school and junior high vocalists.
NATS is a wonderful resource for each of us. In order to support the independent instructors of our group, a new link will be added to the Texoma webpage with information that is relevant to the independent teacher. If you have an item that you would like to discuss or learn about, please email and let me know.
I plan to develop a list of independent teachers within the Texoma Region. With this list, our organization can better communicate with and address the specific needs of this very important group. Currently, no such list is available. I will send out a note to these instructors as soon as I compile the needed information. If you or someone you know in our region is inadvertently left off of this list, please email me so I can include them.
I want to make you aware that there is a new section which has been added to the Spring, 2010, Inter Nos Online Newsletter entitled Independent Voices. There is a wealth of information for the independent teacher. I encourage each of you to take a moment to read the articles provided. Independent Voices is a valuable resource that addresses a wide range of issues.
To access Inter Nos articles, log onto www.nats.org, enter your member ID and Password, then click on the Inter Nos link.
Throughout the coming months I will be investigating ways to better serve you and our region.
Sincerely,
Paige Brown
