ATTENDANCE EXEMPTION POLICY
Please note: 30 September 2024 – Only emergency medical exemptions will be granted on an individual basis for the 2024 Conference at this point. Thank you. Please contact Casey L. Carter, Texoma NATS Auditions Chair, at ccarter@collin.edu, for emergency medical exemption requests.
The presence and participation of teachers at the Texoma Region Conference & Auditions is an integral part of its overall success. It is required that teachers entering students will be available to judge during the entirety of the conference. In the event that a teacher has a scheduled conflict and is unavailable to attend all or part of the conference, the teacher may apply for an exemption, as follows:
- Submit a petition to be exempt from attending (all or part of) the Texoma Region Conference. The petition application will be available through the Texoma Region Website; it will be available August 1st and all petitions must be received by September 1st. Petitions will be reviewed by the Auditions Chari and District Governors, in consultation with the Region Governor, on a first come, first served basis; only a very few exemptions will be granted per year.
- Register for the conference and submit payment of an additional fee of $150
- Teachers receiving an exemption must attend the entire conference and enter students in a previous and subsequent year before they are eligible to receive another exemption. An attendance exemption will be permitted a maximum of once every three years.
All teachers submitting a petition for an Attendance Exception will receive notification via email if the petition has been granted. Submitting an Attendance Exemption Petition does not automatically guarantee the request will be approved.
