Texoma Region Teacher Attendance Policy

The participation of teachers at the Texoma Region Conference & Auditions is essential to the success of the event. All teachers entering students are required to be available to judge throughout the entire conference. If a teacher has a scheduling conflict and is unable to attend all or part of the event, they may apply for an exemption by completing the following steps:

1. Meet Eligibility Requirements
   To be eligible for an exemption in 2025, teachers must have attended the full conference at Sam Houston State University in 2024.  For an individual teacher, an exemption will only be considered once every three years.
2. Submit an Attendance Exemption Petition
   The petition form (available here) must be submitted no later than September 12, 2025, 6:00 PM (CDT). Petitions will be reviewed by the Region Governor, Auditions Chair and District Governors. Only a limited number of exemptions will be granted each year.
3. After confirmation of petition approval, register for the Conference and pay the $150 Exemption Fee (charged in a separate statement via PayPal).

Applicants will be notified by email regarding the outcome of their petition by September 15.  Once the petition is approved they should register for the conference and will receive the invoice for the exemption fee.
